I want to make protective covers for my patio furniture.
How do I prevent water seeping through the seams as it often gets a bit of rain

I've never sewn items for outdoors or even a raincoat, but I seem to remember hearing seam sealants can be applied for these projects.

This link for Rainshed, Inc. a U.S. store selling outdoor fabrics and supplies, has seam sealers. Perhaps you can find a similar supplier closer to your area.

Good luck!

Kirstenw.. This is the second question I have seen this morning on your patio covers.. First I would love to see pics when you are finished.. Second.. this is one project I have not done.. outside home decor. So this is an excellent question.. as I noticed my old cushions are needing replacing.
So now I am wondering just what fabric you did choose for your project.. Did you go with a sunbrella or outdoor type fabric. I wish I had asked that on your other thread.. but better late than never.

I just ordered seam sealing tape from Quest Outfitters. They have the clear kind, 7/8" wide, at a good price--75 cents per yard, with quantity discounts. They shipped very quickly. I haven't tried the tape yet. Nayy, just wanted to share since I had recently researched the issue.
