Date: 2/16/11 11:53 AM Has anyone thought about what they will be sewing and wearing for PR Weekend? What's good for Chicago in May? I like the plus size offerings in the March Burda Style Magazine. This looks like a perfect shopping outfit to me.

I'd better get started!

Date: 2/16/11 1:55 PM This should be a fun thread! Here's what I'm thinking so far, though I won't be held to it and of course it's dependent to some extent on what Chicago weather is like in mid-May:
NL 6648 - cowl-neck sleeveless knit top
McCall 5816 - jacket - lightweight gabardine, in case it gets chilly at night
NL 6775 - casual linen dress
I'm also due for a new pair of the Jalie 2908 jeans. The best part of this plan is that I already have all the fabric in my stash! |

Date: 2/16/11 2:08 PM I'm going to sew a little wardrobe for this event. I was thinking of sewalong and your thread just came up in time, what's a great idea!
I have not started choosing the patterns yet but I know I would use Mrs. Stylebook patterns. |

Date: 2/16/11 3:39 PM What a fun thread. I have made a list and I am gathering up patterns, matching them to fabric---in my stash. We will see with all I have to do how much I get done, but I am working on it. As I said, can't go looking like the queen of WM!! ------ "Sewing should be fun; make it that way!" Margaret Islander

Date: 2/16/11 4:01 PM I just got a bunch of patterns delivered in the last couple of weeks. I will be making tops and light jackets. If I am brave enough I will do the Jalie jeans, have had the pattern for just forever! I do have the fabrics in my stash, so I can start fast.
So excited about being there and meeting everyone. ------ Karen

Date: 2/17/11 1:41 PM Looking forward to seeing what others will be wearing.
I just know I won't have time to do a whole weekend wardrobe. My work is really busy from now until May. So I'm just going to focus on making a couple of fun tops. I recently ordered two patterns from Au Bonheur des Petites Mains. I'm loving what I've seen from this company reviewed here on PR.

Date: 2/17/11 3:08 PM Not a chance that I'll be doing any PR Weekend sewing between now and May... I'll just be glad to get there in one piece! lol
Chicago weather in May is totally unpredictable. It could literally be freezing at night and quite cold and windy in the daytime. Or it could be 80 degrees at 2pm and maybe 55 at night.
The most predictable thing about Chicago is WIND!!
I really like that Burda outfit! Pockets are always good for shopping trips! ------ blog: goodworks1.wordpress.com

Date: 2/17/11 6:12 PM I've been trying to motivate myself to come up with a plan too. At least a Jalie scarf top, but after that....no plan. |

I agree, Melody! I do plan on pulling together some items for the weekend but I'm keeping it a secret for now. (Umm, yes, that does mean I have no plan at the moment.)
If I ever get off the computer this morning, I'm going to get started on Vogue 8480, a short jacket in turquoise that will likely make an appearance in Chicago. -- Edited on 2/19/11 11:37 AM -- ------ Bonnie

Date: 2/19/11 4:41 PM Oh look, the mini-wardrobe contest runs in March....maybe that is the motivation to sew for the PR weekend. And it would already be coordinated, making packing easy! |
