We wanted to get the party started with a contest. PR’rs love PR’s contests. So, to show our love for PR, we’re having a contest to show your love for PR. For this contest, you are asked to come up with something to attach your printed PR Weekend nametag that expresses your love for PR.
Some people are more dramatic when showing their love; some are more subtle. Some are symbolic, while others just tell it plain and simple. However you express your love, it's all good and we want to see at PR Weekend Chicago.
How To Enter
Every PR Weekend attendee will have a nametag. This contest is to create a “holder” for your nametag that expresses your PR love. The nametag itself (that you will receive at check-in) will be no larger than a business card, but it may be a button…so don’t assume that you know what shape the nametag is. It can be made of anything you want; as large or small as you want; as flashy as you want. Quilt it, embellish it, however best represents how much PatternReview means to you for bringing this community of sewists together.
When you arrive at check-in in Chicago, attach your nametag to your holder and have a picture taken of your nametag and holder by me (Tina) some time before the Friday dinner. The picture is needed for the voting process.
Your “holder” or objet d′art you attach your nametag to can be as large as you are daring to wear the whole weekend…some people’s love is very exuberant.
Prizes will be given to:
- The nametag holder with the most votes received
- The largest in size (determined by eye-balling dimension)
- Best use of color (determined by number of votes)
- Best non-sewn (determined by number of votes)
- Most bling-y (determined by number of votes)
Vote Early, Vote Often
Look at everyone’s name tags while you shop, lunch and get to know each other or catching up with others you haven’t seen since last year’s PR Weekend. Go ahead, ask if there’s a PR love story, a secret PR love or anything else the wearer wants to share about their PR love. Mix and mingle all day Friday and Saturday to determine which badge to vote for.
A “polling” station will be set up in the lobby on Saturday morning with all the pictures of the nametags. Attendees will vote by making a checkmark on the picture of the nametag.
And being in Chicago, you can vote more than once. It’s the Chicago way. Voting will be open all day Saturday, closing when the pizza party starts.
I hope you'll have fun doing this! You all have inspired me with your enthusiasm on the PR board and the FB page.

Subject: PR Weekend Chicago - Show Your PR Love Nametag Contest Date: 2/27/11 12:00 PM The materials I want to use for this project/contest literally just fell off my shelf into my lap. I have a design in my head so all I have to do is make it up. Since this is a contest, do I need to keep my ideas to myself, or like in other PR contests, are we going to share our projects for everyone to see prior to the voting? I am a sharer so keeping this to myself will be very, very hard! ------

Date: 3/1/11 1:04 PM I've already got mine made, and since I think it will be the only one like it, I'm not showing it off in advance! I'll give you a hint, though. I had to digitize something to embroider on it.
