Date: 3/3/11 10:47 AM Would anyone be interested in a Lingerie sew along? I have recently spent way too much money on patterns, books, fabrics and notions for sewing my own lingerie, so I need to get sewing. I would love to sew along with others.
I am going to be starting with underwear (starting with Kwik sew 2908 and an Ottobre pattern) and bras (Kwik Sew 3300) since I need both of these items badly, but I would also like to make several other items. Please share what you would like to make.
I found a lot of good information, including lots of sources to buy supplies, in these old sew along threads. Panty/undie sew along and Lingerie sew along This page has lots of helpful tutorials for sewing lingerie (mainly bras)
I have never done a Sew Along before, so I hope I have done the right thing in posting this.

I'm going to have to pass on this one though, as I'm mainly tied up in the Tim Gunn sew along. I'll certainly follow along and lurk however!
I've wanted to make Burda's Bambi camisole (the pattern is free online I believe) for a while. |

Date: 3/3/11 1:24 PM I'll join as I need another bra. I have the Ottobre panties traced & an old tee shirt for a muslin. If you don't already have it, Pro-
Weft interfacing is wonderful for your bra straps & the bridge ( I can't remember if KS 3300 interfaces the bridge but I know it calls for interfacing the straps). |

Date: 3/3/11 9:41 PM Julie it might just be the two of us!
I made my 3rd attempt at the Ottobre panties, and I have decided I just don't like them. I do really like the Kwik Sew ones that I made up, so, after making a few changes, I hope to make several pairs of those. I wore my first muslin today, and they are super comfortable.
I started cutting out my bra today too. I have the interfacing that your recommend, so I will use that. I am going to interface the lower cup too for added support. I am not sure if I will do self fabric straps, or just use strapping elastic. I am making the bra in white, and will hopefully dye it when I am done. |

Date: 3/3/11 9:46 PM I have my muslins cut out. Since my holey tee shirt was too short, I now will have a seam in the back of the Jalies. |

Date: 3/3/11 9:49 PM I'd join. I just purchased two bra kits from Sew Sassy.
Does anyone know if any specialty presser feet come in handy when sewing bras? Maybe for inserting elastic?
Thanks! |

Date: 3/3/11 9:51 PM So many things to sew and so little time --- I will follow here and post if I manage to get any done. I am in desperate need of a new slip - and have a bra trced and ready to cut out (and it has sat for a year in that condition!). ------ Blessings,

Date: 3/3/11 11:20 PM I'm joining in too. As I mentioned in a previous thread about panty patterns a couple of days ago, I have all the supplies I need but didn't have enough time during the Fabric Stash Contest. I'll be using KS 2100 for panties after I take out 1" in the crotch width as mentioned in reviews of this pattern. I have already made one pair (white) in 2010 but haven't reviewed them. I wanted to make them up in more colorful fabric first.
I'm currently about to get started on a pair of gym shorts for my DH that could probably qualify as lingerie since they have a fitted lining with elastic at the leg openings, kind of like swim trunks. They are made by two active wear companies so I guess they could be used for either swimming or working out. Anyhow, the leg elastic has worn out in all three pairs so he's in desperate need of replacements. It's no wonder; they are all about 10 years old. I received KS 3421 in the mail today from Fabric.com (NAYY) along with some polyester mesh I'm going to use as the lining insert. I've got the color coordinated drawcord coming from a seller on Ebay (NAYY). I already had the trilobal nylon in my stash from 1996 when Piece Goods went out of business in Jacksonville, FL.
I look forward to a great Sew Along so let's get started.

Date: 3/4/11 9:41 AM I bought a kit from Sew Sassy too. This will be my first bra, so I am not sure about specialty feet though it seems like an edge stitch foot would be very useful. When I sew elastic on for panties I just use my regular foot, but there may be a better way. Which bra pattern are you making? |

Date: 3/4/11 9:44 AM I like that panty pattern. I almost bought it durning my recent lingerie pattern buying spree. I am looking forward to seeing yours sewn up, and to hearing how you like it.
