Date: 3/5/11 11:45 AM I realize it's a bit early to think of a Fall Event, but is anyone planning on going to the Sewing Expo in Chantilly, Va. this year? I've never been and only live a few hours drive from the area. Anyone have any tips or suggestions? |

Date: 3/5/11 12:22 PM I go every year and it's great! Sometimes I take classes and other times I just go on Saturday and shop all day. I always look forward to it. One of my favorites to see is Peggy Sagers from Silhouette patterns. She's awesome. I always look forward to it and enjoy the time spent there. I live about 25 min. away. Where are you coming from! Would love to meet you! Wendy |

Date: 3/5/11 1:19 PM Wendy, I live near Richmond(Henrico county). I would love to meet you. A friend of mine mentioned she would like to go, too. I was so excited, I don't want to make that drive by myself. I was considering staying one night(any suggestions on which night would be the best?). I'm not planning on taking any classes on this first trip. This would be an opportunity for looking around and understanding how things run. Any suggestions you can send my way would be greatly appreciated

Date: 3/5/11 6:47 PM I'll be there! I go every year. Don't discount taking a class just because it's your first year. I wouldn't book myself solid in your shoes but really you can look over the whole vendor section in 1/2 day so even if you only have 1 day, you could do a 1/2 day or a one hour lecture. That said, I am finding the one hour lectures have less stuff that is useful for me. There is always one little nugget that's good but since I've been going to this show and others for several years, I am now finding the info in the one hour lectures is less novel. Don't forget the free shows, both lectures and fashion shows. Those are totally worth working your schedule around and don't cost anything!
I'll undoubtedly be there each day and offer an open lunch invitation to anyone who wants to sit down and take a load off for a bit!

Date: 3/5/11 7:13 PM Thanks JEF, I'm getting more and more excited about this. It will be nice to meet some of the PR ladies I had planned to stay a night, but am thinking it might be a good one day trip for the first time. I'm hoping my "quilter" friend will come with me. Makes the two hour drive near D.C. a bit more pleasant, when there's someone else along for the ride |

Date: 3/6/11 9:32 AM LooLoo, The Chantilly expo is Sept. 30, 31 and Oct. 1st(Thursday-Saturday). It's just west of D.C. not far from the Airport. The website has directions. I just got on their e-mail list, so they will send me schedules and up-dates as they come in. |
