Date: 3/20/11 1:34 PM Hi Guys -
I am looking for some beautiful, crisp linen to make a needed sheath dress for an approaching special event. If you happen to come across any beautiful crisp linen while fabric shopping online, will you let me know?
Or perhaps you know of a great source for buying linen fabric?? If so, I am all ears. Am dying to purchase great linen (at any cost----especially if they have the color purple). Any preferred sites that you know of? Let me know, please.
Thank you all. This website is a great source, help & inspiration for a beginner seamstress. |

Date: 3/20/11 1:44 PM Fabric-store.com specializes in linen, and they do free swatches for a lot of stuff, too.
FabricMart has a section of Couture Linens that I've been drooling over. (They also have a section of Assorted Linens and Blends) ------ My (overly complicated) blog: http://maggiedoll.com/ |

Date: 3/20/11 2:02 PM Gorgeous Fabrics has a pretty violet. You might try calling Banksville Designer Fabrics or Mood Fabrics. |

Date: 3/20/11 2:04 PM Another rec for Fabrics-store.com. I buy all my linen there (and I use tons). In addition to their free swatching, you also earn points on every purchase to put toward future orders. I was able to get the gorgeous pink damask linen for my corset *for free.*

For a sheath dress, I'd recommend their 5.3 oz midweight linen, which comes in gads and gads and *gads* of colors. ------ ~Gem in the prairie |

Wouldn't this be pretty under the cranberry linen?

Date: 3/21/11 1:47 AM Hi KCStarrr! I love linen, also. I second Patti's vote for Michaels Fabrics. You can contact them, either email or by phone, they will send you swatches. Beautiful fabrics, and wonderful service.
Also, I would try Sawyerbrook.com--same reasons as Michaels--finally, if you are in an area that has a sewing conference, and Barb Callahan is teaching at it--she usually brings with her a small but very nice selection of top quality linen. Her website is Barboriginals, but she does not sell fabric from her website. HTH, and happy hunting! |
