I'm not well-known enough here to be missed, but thanks for thinking of us southerners. We were fortunate in that our home was between paths of tornadoes. It was kind of a stressful day watching live weather all day long, ready to scurry to the basement any moment. Unfortunately, there were seven deaths in other counties.

Compared to some others, my county got off easy. SandiS checked in on the stash SAL thread this morning or last night from NC where they had a tornado, but she and her family and their home are okay also.

ETA: did you get snow up there?

I read 39 people have died so far.

I'm fine here in the Charlotte area.

We're ok here as well...tornado touched down about 3 miles away from our house....4 mile long path....had to check with friends (kids karate instructors) because it named the community near them...their house was right in the path of the tornado.....they will need a new roof, back deck, front porch, have to replace furniture, trampoline, kids playset.....

the trees between their property and the neighboring property - they were all 60-80' tall - are down to about 5' if they are even still standing....and the really heartbreaking part is that the neighbors lost their house to fire just before Christmas, and it had just gotten rebuilt...now they have to fix whatever is left after the tornado got done...I'll be calling tomorrow to see what help they need...last I heard, they didn't have power back on yet.....but friends are waiting for insurance investigator to come out tomorrow....but their neighbors need help cleaning out and taking inventory, so I will probably be over there for a few hours.....

We got high winds and hail/rain combo.....

We were lucky in Georgia. Ferocious storms ripped through states west of us, into Alabama, and then of course wreaked mayem in North Carolina. We dodged the bullet (this time) but I am heartbroken that our Southern neighbors suffered death, damages and injury.

What a scary situation - and now they say another storm system gathering this week.

Larisa.. especially glad to hear you are okay. I have many friends up your way.. including Jtinks.. Hope we hear from many more members soon..

In the meantime here in TX , the storms are the least of our problems.. we have too many out of control fires now.. taking entire communities.. staying tuned for that day by day.. Hope this isn;t the start of the fire season we had last year.. although already just this one time around is horrible. The Governor asked for Federal help today..

yeesh ... we don't want a repeat of last year here in TN either ... river's been high for a couple weeks and we are watching it after last May's flooding. I'd be happy to send y'all half our rain!
