Hidden elastic waist will it work in a no-waistband skirt?

(& thanks for the tute, Debbie Cook!) Will this technique work in either a self-faced or Petersham-grosgrain waist w/facing? Thanks.

Sunnystich - the only way I can think of to do this is to make something like a belt loop and stitch it into the seams of the kurta, running the elastic through the loops. But if you only have side seams, it may not work. I used elastic instead of petersham in severak stretch woven skirts. I made one pull on and another had a zipper. The pull on was a straight skirt and the fabric had alot of stretch. The other was stretch denim with a zipper and I subbed the elastic for the facing. ------ My grandmother taught me to sew when I was 10, and I've been sewing ever since.

Thanks for the list to Debbie Cook's site (Stitches and Seams.) Easiest waistband I ever sewed! I was replacing one that hadn't worked out so the shorts are kinda screwy anyway, but I wanted to do it on something that was already poked full of holes to test it. Pretty awesome. And so long as I wear a shirt over the skort, no one will see the original waistband messiness so all is good. ------ I don't sew, I just shout and plead with fabric.
