Does anyone have a pattern for a kitty muzzle? I have checked a few stores now without any luck. Our Abigail the Babykins threw an awful fit last weekend at the vet & our vet said she would do so much better with a soft muzzle. She is 10 pounds & a bit muscle siamese kitty. Any help would appreciated. She has to go again next month for weight & blood work..... hope I can get one made by end of May. Thank you!!!

Just a warning...if she's a typical Siamese and ridiculously smart, she'll find a way out of the muzzle if she wants.

My calico manages to overcome sedation AND being muzzled at vet visits. It's gotten so bad that I will no longer take her to the vet unless something appears to be wrong with her (she's an indoor-only cat as are my other cats).

Oh!
Gee she can no longer get gas because of her asthma & she is now considered an older adult kitty. .... What do you do? Our landlady requires yearly vaccines & have copies sent to her for our files. ...... ??? ........
Yes, she is sneaky.

tgm, I am a cat lover, so please do not take this wrong, but what about a sock over her head?

I have been lucky that our cats get really docile at the vet.

Another option maybe to not have you in the room, or have a vet come to your house. My BIL cannot be in the room when his cat is with the vet. Now, he has a vet come to the house and he waits outside.

Wow, what a pain. My vet actually recommended only vaccinating our cats every 3 years because they don't go outside.

I will say that the calico has done better with some vets than others, so if you absolutely have to take her in for your landlord, maybe look at another vet? I moved away from the area, but the calico actually did okay with a female vet (she doesn't like men) who only handled cats--no dogs. Maybe you could see if there's someone like that in your area?

My SIL, a total animal lover, used to take Toady, her tomcat, to a vet the animal hated. This doc had a kind of strait jacket for difficult kitties, with zippers you could open to get at various body parts!

I'm going to interject a little rant here..... your landlady is sadly & dangerously misinformed.

Even the most CONSERVATIVE vaccination schedule recommendations are now set at every 3 years - if you are vx'ing every year, you are risking your cat's health with vaccinosis.

Could you print out some vet recommendations (they are all over the web now) showing that every 3 years is (more than) sufficient and show this to your landlady? Not only would it save you & kitty some angst & vet visit costs, but you will be benefitting kitty's health.

That's probably what my SIL's vet used!

There's a kitty muzzle sold there too. They are cheap enough to make it worthwhile just to purchase them. Of course, look at the body language on that cat.
