Bernina lists Modern Domestic on Alberta in Portland. I've never heard of them. Okay, confession time. I have a Bernina 1090 and I take care of it but have never had it serviced, which makes me feel guilty. It runs fine. Do you all get yours serviced all the time?

I had a bad experience with a dealer years ago and I love my baby, hopefully not to death.

I service all my machines once a year. There are so many places for lint and small thread pieces to go that can't be seen. Also, inside parts need oiled that only dealers can do.

The people I know with Berninas go to 'Common Thread' off I-5 in Tualatin.
One of the neighborhood ASG groups is held there too.
While I know many people get their machines serviced regularly, I only take mine in if something doesn't work right. I have a Viking and a Pfaff and a Singer collection.

I visited Modern Domestic and was impressed enough that I am taking my baby in on Tuesday. It seems like a great place and I can get it back very quickly, assuming it only needs a cleaning and tuning (no parts).

Took my machine in yesterday and got it back today. I didn't like having it out of the house and I was really glad to get it back quickly.

It got a good cleaning and a tension adjustment. It didn't need much else. I really liked Modern Domestic and their technician Tony. So you Portland area people, I recommend it to you.

And I no longer have to feel guilty that I am not taking good care of my machine. Those Berninas are good machines.
