Date: 5/29/11 4:30 PM I know I tried to add my blog to it, ages ago. I even up the link to this list on mine. But it's still not there.
So, what's the deal with it? Yea, there's some gardening on my blog too, but it's mostly sewing there are other sewing blogs that include gardening that are on the list.
I used the find function in my browser, so it's not possible that I just missed it. ------ My (overly complicated) blog: http://maggiedoll.com/ |

Date: 5/30/11 11:58 AM More to the point.. if I was skipped over, is it probably just because I was somehow forgotten or the web hiccuped or something, so I just try to submit my blog again? Or would trying to submit my blog again be spammy? There's not a spot in the form for comments, just blog name, address, and description, so I can't really say "hey, I already thought I was listed, but now I don't seem to be here, so I'm submitting the form again because it must have been missed..." ------ My (overly complicated) blog: http://maggiedoll.com/ |

Date: 5/30/11 12:27 PM I have no idea.. it certainly doesn't say anything about not being updated.. still has the submission form that says that submissions should be up within two weeks unless they're particularly overwhelmed and within a month if they are.. ------ My (overly complicated) blog: http://maggiedoll.com/ |

Date: 5/30/11 12:45 PM I honestly never understood that list. I clicked on it a couple of times when I saw it on a blog, went to a couple of the top rated blogs, which held no interest for me, and the sheer volume of it made my eyes glaze over.
I didn't realize that you have to submit your name to be included.
Am I missing some value here? ------ http://jillybejoyful.blogspot.com/

The value for the reader is a list of sewing blogs all in one place. The *real* value is for the owner of the site generating revenue from the Google adds in the sidebar.

Yeah but that doesn't mean anything. If it's not being updated (and I have no idea either way), then it stands to reason that *none* of it is being updated, included its content.
ETA: If it were my site, I would have a "Last Updated on (date)" notation.

Date: 5/30/11 2:01 PM There were a couple of bad links on that blog when I checked it out, so I don't think it is well maintained. I think getting your blog on a blogroll of a higher trafficked blog might be a better strategy. Or joining a show and tell type blog like Sew Retro for example if your blog features vintage projects -- one that is topical or related to what you blog about. That is how I learned about many blogs-- clicking the link to read about the project and then adding it to my follow list.
Adding a link to your blog to all your reviews here and posting your projects to Burda Style as well can help encourage visitors as well. |

Date: 5/30/11 4:32 PM Even if being on the list doesn't "do" anything, it seemed to me like there wasn't any reason not to submit my blog to it.
I blog about sewing and there's a list of blogs about sewing, so as long as it doesn't cost anything to be on it, why not? I'm not a superblogger who gets lots of followers, and I do a lot of kinda niche-y things like corsets, so it's not like I'm even likely to attract much of an audience.. but I would like it to be possible for people I don't already know to find me!
Every so often I'll stumble onto a blog I really like that only has a couple of followers, and wonder why I hadn't come across that blog before, especially if it's been up for a significant amount of time.. but there don't seem to be many good ways of going about searching for other blogs that interest me, it seems like it always happens by chance.
It looks like the owner of the sewing blog list has a blog that's been updated fairly recently.. but I've no idea if she still updates the list or not. -- Edited on 5/30/11 4:33 PM -- ------ My (overly complicated) blog: http://maggiedoll.com/ |

Date: 5/30/11 7:59 PM Blogspot has its own blog search. A person's blog will show up there as long as the person doesn't have it checked that they don't want to be shown there. I just checked and found an entry from you, so that certainly helps in getting exposure. ------ I have not yet begun to procrastinate |
