Date: 6/12/11 6:43 PM I've been browing the App Store for an easy way to organize my zillions of patterns but I think PR could make the best one.
Just start out with an organizer, where you can enter the company with your drop down list and then have it load the pattern just like when we write a review.
I sometimes by both sizes of a pattern so the ability to enter more than one size for each would be good. And where size is not applicable, to add how many copies of a pattern I own.
But make sure the info is downloaded so we can access it offline! Allow at least two photos to be added to each record.
Maybe later add a fabric stash organizer component. But I desperately need a good app that is easy and fast to use.
Won't you please look into it?
thank you,

Date: 6/12/11 9:07 PM There is an app that will download the pattern info when you put in the pattern company and number. I use it and love it. You can also store fabric in it. It's called Sewing Kit. There's also one called Pattern Pal (?) I think and it has an equivalent fabric app, but I've never used either one so can not vouch for them. I love Sewing Kit, though. There is a free version to try it to see if you like it. NAYY ------ "framed" was taken |

With Butterick, McCalls, and Vogue you must put the pattern number in with an initial letter and then the number. For example, B5636 for Butterick 5636.
With Simplicity, no letter in front of the number. With New Look, use Simplicity as the company. You can always go back later and change the company to New Look, but to download the pattern info you want to put Simplicity.
Then click on the Done button. You must click "Done" to download the pattern info. That was my problem initially. Oh, and this seems obvious to me now, but make sure you are connected to the internet. :D
I don't know how to download Burda, Jalie, or Kwik Sew info off the internet, but I have scanned and added my own pics for those. Anyway you can get a picture into your iPod or iPhone works. Then select "choose existing" when you want to add a picture and choose a picture you have on your device.
The developer has described on his website how to backup your stuff in case of a crash. I have done the backup many times, but have never had a crash and I have (I'm embarrassed to say) over 500 patterns in this app. Obviously, I needed something to help me organize.
The developer is also very good about replying to comments and emails. He has always answered ALL of my questions either on his website or by email. I would say, based on my experience, he's a really nice guy. Just to emphasize again, I am not affiliated in any way, but I'm so happy to have found this app. It's not perfect, but it works for me. :)------ "framed" was taken |

Date: 6/14/11 1:57 PM I use the Sewing Kit app and love it. I was actually able to get it when it first came out so I only paid like 99 cents for it then. The new back up feature is great (if I can ever get it working--waiting on a reply) since I have lost all my info twice now--only 100 patterns but still a PITA to re-enter it all the time. The last two updates have required me to uninstall (loose all info) and reinstall. Even with the issues I have had/having, I would recommend the app. I just wish it was avaliable for the andriod platform since I will be trading in my iphone for a new samsung phone that operates on android. |
