First time in my life I feel ashamed to be from here, to live here.
SHAME SHAME SHAME on every rioter, every looter, and every single SOB who stood cheering this shit on tonight.
And to think we had the NERVE to call the Boston Bruins fans "classless" and "thugs"!
My beautiful city is destroyed. My fellow apartment dwellers and I were locked down into the building, in FEAR. OMG I am beyond words angry & ashamed! ------ I heart Panzy, Pfaff Creative Performance, the sewing machine love of my life! And Rupert (Pfaff 2023), Baby (BL Enlighten), Victor (BLCS), Ash (Bernina 350SE), Pal (Bernina 530), Kee (Bernina 750) and the Featherteen Flock!
Most of all, I heart Woo (HimmyCat). Until we meet again, my beautiful little boy. I love you. |

Date: 6/16/11 3:16 AM I understand why you are angry, but I really don't that think you need to feel ashamed because a bunch of drunken idiots went on a rampage. THEY shold be ashamed, sure, but you did nothing wrong. |

Subject: Ive never been so ashamed. And angry! Date: 6/16/11 5:26 AM I'd feel the same way if this happened in Boston. I feel bad for all the police officers and the rest of the fans. Hopefully the police caught the instigators. And that everyone else following those few wakes up feeling really, really ashamed of themselves. ------ With a great wardrobe that's still in the flat-fabric stage. |

Subject: Ive never been so ashamed. And angry! Date: 6/16/11 7:29 AM I was so surprised to see this as the first item on the New Zealand newspapers this evening. I'm so shocked that sports fans in Canada would be so stupid and selfish and ridiculous! Having spend most of the last 15 years in Northern Ireland, I know about awful behaviour in the name of sport (or religion) but never thought it would happen in Vancouver.
I hope the police crack down hard on the perpetrators and show them that such behaviour will not be tolerated, and losing a game is no excuse. It just makes them look childish as well as dangerous. |

Date: 6/16/11 8:45 AM It's a very sad state of affairs, no matter where you live. People are becoming more and more aggressive, with drinking, drugs, etc. After teaching on a high school campus where riots were the norm, rather than the exception, I became numb to this behavior. But to see it in other countries besides the US is unconscionable; especially over a game, when it's the sport that is to bring people together.
There are some good people in the world, like yourself, Lynne, who are embarrassed and for good reason. Hopefully the perpetrators will be fined/judged, etc., and not let off easy. ------ "We don't impose our rhythm on Nature. The key is to respect and live within Her." Jean-Charles Boisset, Winemaker

Subject: Ive never been so ashamed. And angry! Date: 6/16/11 8:54 AM I'm from a city with a major Big 10 sports program. Post-sporting event riot? Yawn. Happens here, at least every other year. It IS embarassing. Yet oddly enough, I've gotten used to it. |

Date: 6/16/11 9:38 AM I think the sad part here, is each of us as parents strive to teach our children right from wrong. We try to teach them that losing is part of life and next time perhaps they will win. How can we as parents teach our children its ok to lose, when grown up adults act in this matter over a loss?
I do not think you have anything to be ashamed of, however I can understand your anger. It is sad when this happens, but the saddest part is it happens alot. And usually sadly enough it is grown ups that behave this way. Hopefully as other posters have stated they catch the ones that started this, and bring charges against them. Hopefully you will be able to leave your apartment very soon.
