I'm a nervous wreck and looking for advice. I plunked down $500 on June 12th to purchase a Pfaff 1475 CD on Ebay. I paid for the machine through Paypal. The machine was supposed to arrive between June 17 and 18 so I waited until today to call my local post office and was told that the tracking system shows someone went into a post office in Arizona and purchased a label on June 13th but no package was shipped on that date.

If anybody has had experience with a situation like this, please tell me if I should immediately contact Paypal or whether I should wait longer for delivery. I sent the seller an email today and have not received a response yet.

Immediately try contacting the seller again, with a brief but serious email. The reason I say this is that to 'open a case' with paypal against a seller who has not delivered, you are supposed to try contacting the person twice. If you do not get a prompt answer, the next thing to do is contact ebay's resolution center.

I have done it twice, and both times, the seller has had to refund my money and postage through paypal. It works very well, because ebay apparently leans hard on bad sellers.

But don't wait any longer for a delivery. The faster you move on this, the better.

Thank you for your swift reply; I did not know I had to contact the seller twice, great to know. Thanks again.

I'm a bit confused with this. Labels don't cost anything at the PO. Tracked numbers are not 'tracked' until the mail piece enters the mail stream. The PO doesn't track lables that aren't attatched to a package.

Yards in: 22.75

Numbers for 2012:

10.25 yards out

Numbers for 2011:
601.25 yards in stash (I'm sure this number is off by a few yards)
Yards in: 137.50 (Seriously? I'm over 100, and it's only JULY? Ugh!)
Yards out: 88.75

The Ebay sale stated that the USPS would be used to transport the SM. The tracking number was generated as soon as I paid on Paypal on June 12th. The next day, the tracking number showed that on June 13th a label was printed and that estimated delivery would be June 17th or June 18th. It wasn't until I called my local post office today that I was told that there isn't a package in shipment; the post office rep is the one who stated that "somebody printed a label on June 13th, but no package is being tracked for delivery".

Any more advice folks can give me?

When you put the number in at USPS.com, what does it tell you? I work for the PO, and i'll be the first to admit that the PO isn't always the best at tracking things.

First thing I would do is contact the seller. Tell them that you're concerned that the machine hasn't shown up yet. See what they tell you. It's possible they didnt drop it off at the PO until Friday.

Thank you for your interest, Bestgrammy. Here's my update:

I contacted the seller twice and the response was "there's nothing wrong with the machine". So, this morning I got through to Paypal and started a claim; I expect I will prevail because I used my Visa card to pay for the machine so if "push comes to shove" I can do a chargeback through Visa once I've exhausted the Paypal system, if necessary.

I hope readers here understand what the machine looked like from my previous description about the base not being connected to the rest of the machine. It is just not acceptable. Now, maybe I could find a Pfaff repair person, who would look at the machine and tell me they can drill out the four screw holes, and put in longer screws and attach the two machine parts together - but why should I? If I had paid up to $100 I might go this repair route, but not after I've paid $500.

I've been an Ebayer for several years and I've never run into a problem with any purchases I made. But I'll not be purchasing any electronic items of any value greater than $50 after this hassle.

The seller was not honest in this case. And after the "dust" has settled I do intend to leave a negative comment on their Ebay account so that other purchasers might be warned at least about my experience.

I am going to guess you saw the possible delivery dates on the Ebay item page? Those are meaningless. It is an Ebay guess and means nothing in reality. It does not take into account any shipping time or method of shipping used ..If sent by USPS parcel post it takes about 10 days for them to deliver. They are slow. If they sent package on the 13th [and they likely did ..a lot of time the tracking never shows up till the item is delivered..who knows why...] you will probably get your package in the next couple of days. I would surely not panic yet.

I'm confused. So you received the machine when? It was damaged, or not in good shape as indicated? I thought the issue was that you did not get the machine. Sorry for all of your hassle!
