Date: 6/21/11 6:08 PM For whatever reason, my Joann's (almost an hour ride away) doesn't carry much knit fabric at all, and more than 50% of what is there isn't worth the time to sew it up. So, I have to depend on online sources. Just wondering what have been reliable places for you? |

Date: 6/21/11 7:20 PM There have been a lot of threads on this in the past but I rarely have luck with the PR search. Some that I and others like are, off the top of my head: Gorgeous Fabrics, Emma One Sock, Fabric Mart, Fabric.com (can be hit or miss but is less $$), Fabric Fairy (good for kids prints and for cotton knits). ------ I've moved! Date: 6/21/11 8:16 PM Thank you! (very intuitive of you . . .I'm not a whiz with the search function either). I am glad to know you've had some good experiences at these places. I appreciate it! |

Date: 6/21/11 8:19 PM I've been getting a lot from Etsy and Ebay lately. Denver Fabrics can have some great prices but their quality can be hit or miss, especially on knits. Fabric.com is another go-to for me. I also have one boy and one soon-to-be baby boy, which makes things that much trickier - not sure if you're looking for kid stuff or adult, but I do find a major dearth of good boy print knits.

Date: 6/21/11 8:29 PM Depends on your budget and style.
I'm on the cheaper end for knits and buy for myself and my kids. $8/yd is probably pretty expensive for me honestly so I usually buy from:
fabric.com
fabricmartfabrics.com
girlcharlee.com
fabricfairy.com
printknitsstudio.com
naturesfabrics.com (imports and nicer stuff)
katielu, you might like printkintsstudio, naturesfabrics or girlcharlee for cute boy prints. ------ My sewing blog: weebeaks.blogspot.com

Date: 6/21/11 8:44 PM There's also Marcy Tilton in California. On the expensive side, but good quality, and a lot of knits hard to find anywhere else -- including lots of stripes for grown-ups, sophisticated prints, and shibori dyed knits. ------ marjoriekh |

Date: 6/21/11 9:23 PM Oh, fabric.com again! I will definitely check there.
(Oh, I should have mentioned - - I'm thinking of adult knits, for women.) But I hear you about little boy knits.
Thank you! |

(There are a few select items I'd pay more for, like winter coats, special dresses...but for everyday, no.) So, with that in mind, this is wonderful! I appreciate your sharing it from that angle because I am definitely more of a thrifty gal. |

True, they are more expensive, but I will include that, too - - glad you'd mentioned it as I'd forgotten about her fabrics. Maybe not all the time, but there are those special garments that deserve a little splurge. |

Date: 6/21/11 9:28 PM In addition to www.marcytilton.com, I can highly recommend www.cjpatterns.com. Fabric quality is always great from both of them. ------ Debora, of Chicago and Frankfurt
