There's always the old standby, Sew News. And Stitch has lots of projects for begiinners.

Sew Stylish from Taunton Press( http://www.craftstylish.com/sewstylish). I think it comes out on a quarterly basis. They have also published special "Teach Yourself to Sew" issues which you can order from their website.
