Date: 7/3/11 9:04 PM I have a Bernina 1100DA, that I was given. I chnaged needles- to the factory authorized ones I got from the dealer. And now the needle comes unthreaded after sewing a few inches. . Any ideas on why? Or how to fix it? I have re-threaded it. And I have re-threaded the loopers first and then the needle. Should I try a different needle? Adjust the tensions?
Thanks for any insight you can provide. |

Were you "given" the machine's Manual also?? ... Might be a place to look. There are manuals on-line, too, eh...

Date: 7/5/11 8:16 AM I got nothing but the machine and the threading order. i bought the manual and everything else from Bernina. I am using the needle they sold me. The manual does not address this problem- I checked that first.
The tension in the needle thread seems tight. I have loosened it. It is fine from spool thru the tracks down the top. Then as it snakes thru the machine, it gets tight. I wonder if it is catching on something. |

Yes, check the tensions. I usually pull each thread a bit and see if they are too loose or too tight and if they are not moving at all, check at each point in the thread path and see where it is stuck. sometimes it can get wound around a thread guide or something silly like that and I miss it somehow. Check to make sure the thread antenna is all the way up and that the thread is feeding freely. One of my machines hates it when I use bobbins and is only happy with thread cones,
Check the needle to make sure it is inserted correctly. A backwards needle will sometimes be the problem. ------ http://bgballroom.wordpress.com to follow the progress on my next ballgown. |
