So I was at Walmart tonight and saw some new Simplicity patterns I had never seen before in the fabric department.

They are called Sew Simple and were 97 cents each. I picked up a pattern for a top and a cardiwrap. I really didn't need the patterns, but they looked interesting and I wanted to check them out.

They seem like they would be great for beginner sewists. I wasn't able to find them on the Simplicity website, but hopefully they'll show up soon there.

Do you have pattern numbers?

------

Numbers for 2013:
Yards in stash: 606.25
Yards in: 22.75
Yards out: 10.50

Numbers for 2012:
594.00 yards in stash
4 yards in
10.25 yards out

Numbers for 2011:
601.25 yards in stash (I'm sure this number is off by a few yards)
Yards in: 137.50 (Seriously? I'm over 100, and it's only JULY? Ugh!)
Yards out: 88.75

I bought 1961 and 1978.

I took a picture of them--sorry...first time I've uploaded a picture to PR and I don't yet know how to make the picture smaller:

At a recent Australian Sewing Guild (ASG) Industry Day that was held at the warehouse of Simplicity (Sydney), we heard all about these patterns.

If memory serves me, Simplicity is bringing out a range that has only one garment per envelope, is simple to sew, minimum fit issues and a competitive price.

They are actively seeking sewers who are novice, juvenile (ie age wise), and those who love sewing but do not have enough time.

I'm sure other ASG members who attended the industry day may be able to give more information, or correct my faulty memory.

This is really interesting. I like the two choices that you posted here. Love the price even more. I'll have to go check our Wal-mart that has reinstated it's Fabric Department. I haven't had a chance to get there since I heard it was back. Maybe they are sending them to markets like Wal-mart...maybe even Hobby Lobby. Anyone been to their Hobby Lobby lately? I might just make this my "mission" of the day.

Interesting concept. 1978 tunic is interesting even for a 60-something...

When I googled Sew Simple, this is what I found.
Sew Simple website

I'm wondering if someone didn't do her/his homework and maybe there is a name issue.

I noticed these patterns in our Walmart just the other day. This particular Walmart has retained a tiny fabric area and these patterns were displayed vertically -- similar to a magazine display.
