I found this site through an online ad (I think it was a Google ad, targeted to me based on my browsing history!):

http://dotsew.com/

The site is still in the works, here's what it says:

''A fresh and exciting new world with infinite possibilities for your home sewing projects. We'll change the way you view sewing forever!''

This part is intriguing:

''Not finding what you want? You don't have to rely on fabric store patterns anymore. Make what YOU want. Express yourself. Download patterns...Real ones, not aprons and iPod cozies. Real patterns for real people.''

Of course I provided my email address to be notified of their opening.

Well, I signed up. Why not? The teaser is quite intriguing (if unrealistic, as my rational self keeps interjecting) and I wonder if they are going to do some sort of computerized pattern thing where you input your precise measurements and pay for a sloper?

I signed up also. I don't need any new patterns, but would like to simplify the process of deciding what I need, what I want and which pattern to use to get the look.

There is NO information on this site. Who knows who this is and what it will be or if it will be. Better to not give your email address and see down the road what it is.

I wonder if it will be similar to Unique Patterns. They used to have actual pattern drafters draft your patterns but now it's done by computer.
With them, I didn't need a muslin once I got past the first dress draft and did some re-measuring, and they drafted it again.
If it works similar, you will have to tweak the measurements. The first set you send in are never 100% accurate.

Interestingly, the person that owns dotsew.com is also affiliated with the following domain names:
http://dhwapparel.com/ and
http://verafit.com/.
dotsew.com is a domain name server which means she most likely has big plans for the web site. (She has 29 affiliated domain names)

From Google searches...
DeOnna Hotz has spent the past 13 years designing and developing software to create applications for the design, engineering and fashion industries.

I'm guessing she is currently working on some web site design work as she has posted recently to web design forums.

So now you know who is collecting names from the web site.

I *never* sign up for stuff... but I signed up for this. I agree... they had me at 'no muslins'.

I'm thinking that like my experience with Unique, you WILL have to do a muslin - at first anyway. I would suggest, depending on the info that comes through, to order a basic plain semi fitted sheath type dress (with sleeves) for your first garment, to be sure you measured correctly.
This does sound promising, as this person obviously has enough experience to know how to help if and when there are measurement mistakes. I have to say Unique (now Fit Me), was very good about that. They even let me speak to the drafters. I only had a couple of problems with the first draft, and it was due to my measurements being wrong. I wonder though - they are under new management, but aren't advertising or even sending current membes any promotional information or anything.
I'm eager to see price, and styles from dot.sew.

HERE is an example of a blouse I want from Fit Me. It's a little over $25.00. Blouses/tops generally run from $17 to $25 or so.
I hope these are less than that during their grand opening. I can use my Fit Me Measurements - perhaps only re-take a few.
