Date: 7/7/11 3:59 PM HI All! I have caught the sewing bug!
Right now, I am using my mother's OLD Montgomery Ward machine, but I am looking at dealers to get my very own machine.
A sewing shop employee recommended the Janome:2206 for me. Anyone out there know about this machine? I want to make sure I do my research before I purchase.
Any other machine brands/models that would be good for a beginner, but also a good long term investment?
I am interested in making gifts, garments and quilting. (One class at a time!)
Thanks for the help! ------ ~ Jenni ~ |

Date: 7/7/11 8:30 PM Our dealer has 2 free lessons when you buy it. It cost $149 here ... no sewing case, but it does come with snap on feet.
It is mechanical. It has a nice 4 step buttonhole & zig zag, straight stitch & some stretch stetch.
There was a recent discussion here on the Magnolia & Sewist 500 if you can afford a bit more money. Those are drop in bobbin. ------ I am a gal from Kalamazoo.... oh what a gal... smile.... It is in Michigan... la la la ...love that Glen Miller classic!

Date: 7/8/11 10:10 AM 2206 is probably a fine machine, but it has limited capabilities so you will quickly grow out of it so to speak. I own a 2212 and it does everything I need and I quilt, sew clothes, and mend. |
