Date: 7/10/11 6:17 PM My husband wants me to make a white dinner jacket for him for our next cruise. I was thinking of a lightweight white wool, but can't find it. Is there another fabric that someone could suggest? He is 60 years old. |

Date: 7/10/11 6:58 PM Rosen & Chadick has several wonderful light weight white wools. You can google them and give them a call. they have been doing phone oders and mail orders since before your grandma was born.
Fine smooth light weight wool isn't cheap...but it is wonderful. -- Edited on 7/10/11 6:58 PM -- ------ sarah in nyc

Date: 7/10/11 7:00 PM Definitely use summer weight (also called tropical weight) wool. A formal dinner jacket is not actually white; it's more of a ivory/light cream color. If you use white-white, he'd look like a chef or a dentist. Not the look you want.
When he wears a white shirt with his "white" dinner jacket, there should be a definite contrast between the white shirt and the ivory jacket. Also, ivory or light cream wool should relatively easy to find. Hope that helps, Lily ------ Lily |
