Date: 7/13/11 1:18 PM Hi all, I hope someone can help me with a New Home 844 sewing machine that only wants to sew in reverse. I bought this machine at a local thrift shop with the intention of setting it up as a second machine to top stitch with or keep a button holer constantly set up on. It seems to sew great, good tension and stitch quality but only in reverse. I've done a thorough cleaning and oiling. I've taken off all of the covers that I can get at to try to see why this machine only wants to go in reverse. It is a pushbutton type reverse mechanism. It seems free and springs back like it should when pushed. Also all of the stitch dials move easily and don't seem gunked up by anything. Could it be the motor? The hand wheel does turn in the correct direction from what I can tell. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

Date: 7/13/11 1:36 PM Sounds like it might need a tune up. I would do that with any used machine. It's worth it to get it running correctly. ------ So many projects, not enough time
