Date: 7/30/11 9:45 AM Now that I have an iPad --fits in my purse-- maybe I could avoid duplicate patterns in the stash when the impulse to add hits and I can't remember what I might have or what is on my wish list.... I don't have the energy time to put my presently in Exel list into PR's and not all the info I want to sort on anyway fits into PR's system.
Anyone with a recommendation? I thought about posting this in Computers ARGHGHGHGGH area, so Dear Moderator, please move if you see fit.

Date: 7/30/11 11:13 AM Thanks for the Bento suggestion.
Ladies, check out the Joby brand Roku stand for your ipad. It does a very nice job of elevating the ipad for viewing while at your machine or computer. I keep mine on something pertinent or on Netflix in the sewing room. ------ I have no idea what Apple thought I was saying so be a Peach and credit anything bizarre to auto correct. |

Date: 7/30/11 4:42 PM Bento is a database/app. In essence yes it is a database, but in an app form and really easy to use. It is sold in the app store. The full mac version is a full database. the iphone and ipad version are the app and sold separately.
The ipad app only set us back €3,99 I think. My husband also runs it on iphone and that app was about the same price.
It is made by filemaker.
We currently use it to log what we have served our different guest so we also serve a new menu, but also log recipes and what does and does not work.
My sewing projects will follow soon. HTH

Date: 7/30/11 5:56 PM Check out Pattern File software. They have a fantastic system that will even auto fill big 4 patterns and has pictures, tech drawings, and you can add anything you need from your own files. They are releasing an iphone and android app in august. I really like the desktop app, and I can't wait to be able to poll up pattern info at the store. Nayy ------ Sandi

Date: 7/30/11 7:53 PM I have to add my vote for Bento, if only because you can completely customize what information you want to keep track of. I have mine set up with pattern number, fabric types, links to the pattern reviews here and much more, plus I've dragged images of the pattern envelope fronts and PDFs of the backs (many of which are available here on Pattern Review and others on the manufacturers' sites) plus photos I've taken of the finished garments.
It's so great to just flip through the pages I've created to browse my collection. |

Date: 7/30/11 8:40 PM Cant you just upload your existing excel to google docs and access it from your iPad? I guess you would need 3G to access anywhere.. |

Date: 7/30/11 10:01 PM Hi Nancy,
I have the both Pattern Pal and Fabric Stash apps on my iPhone. They are made by the same company and I am not certain yet if they optimized it for for iPad. A number of us were discussing them here at this link. I started using Pattern Pal quite a bit but then didn't like that it was only on my phone and not my computer. I stopped updating it.
I would invest the time/money in something that I could have on both computer and mobile device - like Bento. Or, put in Excel spreadsheet and get the comparable iPad app, which is Numbers.
I am curious to see what you decide.
