I do believe that there are festivals and times when dirndls are the thing to wear. It's a cultural thing, and can be quite lovely. Lutterloh has frequently had a dirndl in their supplements.
As to plus sized, yes, plus sized ladies like plus sized patterns for their dirndls.
The most awful thing there is that hideous brownish-mud colored suit with the ill fitting jacket and too long sleeves which looks like she grabbed someones jacket after being surprised in the bosses office.... -- Edited on 8/3/11 3:57 PM --

I was wonderingabout what festival these clothes were for. I can see a couple of possibilites though. Sept. last year was great it had that turtleneck that everybody loved (including myself) maybe it will get better as more items evolve.
