I made Butterick B5486 . I like it alot but the dress is too short in the waist for me . I'd like to make it again but I would like the waist seam to sit on my natural waist. ( I have learned that waistlines make me look slimmer as I have a small waist)

Here is the line drawing

Here is my blog post so you can see what I mean

BLOG

If I make it again ( View A without the wrap ) do I simply add length then move the darts down or do I extend the dart legs ??

I am no expert (and hello from The Other Place by the way) but I'd say that the darts probably want to end up with their tops in the same place in relation to your bust?

You want to lengthen the dart legs with the rest of the bodice pattern. Cut the bodice pattern horizontally midway through the dart length and then spread the pattern the amount you need to lengthen it by. Then blend or draw in new dart lines from the point to the waist.
Hope this helps

Thank you so much Lynne . I kinda thought this might be the case but I couldn't work out if this meant the darts would need to be wider or longer etc !! Brainache LOL !!!

Katie hello , I don't get much time to get onto the other forum so I prioritize my time ..sewing always wins hands down

I seem to mainly post on forums while I'm supposed to be working - for just that reason!
