Date: 9/12/11 8:50 AM If Liana is still a member, she is the one who made her own shoes. I know she has a blog, but can't remember the name. ------ Sandra

Date: 9/12/11 9:13 AM If I remember correctly, Liana had an article in Threads magazine on how to recover pumps with fabric. The only review that currently comes to mind about making shoes is SewVeryTall's. ------ http://sweetnotions.blogspot.com/ |

Date: 9/12/11 11:38 AM If you are going to London, Prescott and Mackay offer a course. These are some of the shoes we made.

There is also a shoemaking course in NYC but I've never taken it. ------ "A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.”

Date: 9/12/11 12:27 PM Mary Wales Loomis has instructions and materials. NAYY. DH said I couldn't start this as a hobby too, BTW. I guess a sewing room and a shoe making room would be too much for him.
Also you can google shoe making and get lots of websites. -- Edited on 9/12/11 12:28 PM -- ------ Marilyn

Date: 9/12/11 2:17 PM One thread on that is at shoemaking--not so easy to find, though, but I knew I'd seen one.
I found that the Loomis book and some others (with more of a variety, and flats, which are my usual) were in my library's system. I didn't have time to take it up but someday.
If you like slippers, this pattern is very nice. I keep meaning to write a review, as I've made regular slippers and morphed it with a Butterick historical footwear pattern for costume use. ------ Jeanne

Date: 9/18/11 9:54 PM I have the book by Mary, and she makes it look very easy.
I started to start a pair, but I have a suprisingly difficult time finding heels and soles in this modern age. Go figure, I thought you could buy anything on the world wide web. It just takes more focus and concentration than I have right now...
Really, I can't find heels and soles that I like and I can't bring myself to tear apart one of the pairs that I like.
But, I now have a pair of Brightons that I really need to let go of, and may take apart for copying. ------ http://beccabeckstuff.blogspot.com/
