Hello,

I noticed that there have been several posts about the Janome 11590 / Kenmore 16231 sewing machine. I was hoping that someone could tell me exactly what kind of walking foot I should buy to go with this machine.

I hope I haven't already overlooked the answer.

Thanks!

Sears has a wonderful bargain of an "open toe" set that includes the open toe walking foot with quilter bar, open toe darning foot, open toe craft foot and a ditch quilting foot. I think the price for all the included feet in the set is still under $30. I have owned this set for several years and the feet are wonderul. This set is for the Janome, Kenmore machines with the top load bobbin. Usually the walking foot alone can cost more than this entire set.
Sears sells another set also at about the same low price for front loading bobbin machines but it is a bit different and I am unsure if the walking foot is open toe but it includes the walking foot, 1/4 in. seam foot, darning foot and cloth guide.

You just have to be sure to order the proper set for your machine and if you cannot find these sets available on line then probably a Sears parts or service center couild get it for you.

The 16231 has a horizontal drop in bobbin, so it takes a Janome or Kenmore walking foot with the horizontal style as they call it. That means for a machine with a drop in bobbin.

Ditto. I have that same set in the horizontal bobbin model. It is a great bargain. And remember Janome feet are Kenmore feet are Janome feet.Kenmore/Janome Bobbins fit and needles are Janome needles are Organ needles. Yup. Confusing but true.

Hi, I concur with Betakin and Mufffet. I purchased the 4-piece set and still have the box. The # on the box is Kenmore 20 6702 - for the horizontal bobbin 16231. I very happy with how my walking works and also love the clear open toe foot that comes with. It also has a darning foot and the stitch in the ditch quilting foot.

I have an Kenmore machine accessory booklet and yes, the horizontal bobbin open toe set is listed as #6702 and the quilt set for the front load bobbin machines is #6701.

Sometimes though the part numbers are different when ordering from a Sears Service Center but when ordering from a service center all they need to know is the model number of your machine.

We are, aren't we?

Good luck and have a great time sewing - now that you are here on PR it will only be a matter of time before you have other machines as well.

or.... since Janome makes Kenmore and it's a low shank foot... you could get a Janome Convertible Even Feed Foot Set. THey are pretty cool.

I just got this foot set for my Jem Platinum 760. It's a nice little setup!
