Date: 10/9/11 11:21 AM Hi everyone!
I just joined today because I picked up a gorgeous Fleetwood sewing machine on Friday. It is a beast, recently serviced, clean, and sews great!
I have found very minimal information out there about these machines, and no pictures of a fleetwood just like mine. If anyone has information, I would love to hear it! I don't have a manual. It takes singer-15 bobbins, so I picked up more of those yesterday. Other than that I have no extra parts.

Date: 10/9/11 2:04 PM Welcome sailmaker86, looks like a great little machine. I used to repair my brother's sails and we got into making kites when our guys were in Indian Guides and Scouts. Its just fun to have a machine for cranking out whatever rocks your boat.
Curiosity led to a google search and I noticed right away that there is more than one Fleetwood sewing machine that looks a lot like Singer sewing machines. Sure enough, someone with a different Fleetwood machine said that she used a Singer manual since she also purchased her machine without a manual. For starters, are there any identifying marks or numbers on the machine that might indicate a model number or year of manufacturer?
Well, anyway, let us know if you can come up with any other information. And, welcome! ------ I have no idea what Apple thought I was saying so be a Peach and credit anything bizarre to auto correct. |

Date: 10/9/11 2:59 PM Welcome to PR! I don't have advice on your new machine, but I just did come back from the Annapolis Boat Show yesterday where I saw and played with some SailRite machines. DH was excited at my interest in eventually attaining one of them so I can make stuff for the boat. I was just interested in getting a new toy. LOL. Welcome to Pattern Review, be sure to check out the Sewing Machines sub forum because you'll probably get more responses to your machine questions. ------ I'm finally a blogger!

Date: 10/9/11 8:37 PM I will check out that board, I'm still getting used to the set up on this site!
Oh right, I forgot to mention the model and serial numbers! The model number appears to be JA-19 2345 and serial number W58716, if that is helpful at all. It is marked Made in Japan in a few places, and there is a neat badge that says something about "guaranteed by Good Housekeeping"
I work with Consew SKZs and Adler 160s making dacron sails for a living, it's fun to have a small industrial machine of my own! :) |

Date: 11/3/11 10:55 PM Welcome to PR! I bought one similar to yours in a beautiful almost amber color. I didn't think of it so much as "industrial" strength, but I fell in love with its retro look.I am testing it on different fabrics. It sews pretty nicely. The feed on it, though, doesn't have a good feel to me. I'll try to post a picture for you for comparison purposes. One of our members said she thinks these machines were made by Yamaha, post WWII, in Japan. |
