I was wondering if anyone had put a decorative "skin" or decals on their sewing machine. I have one for my laptop as alot of people do and was thinking how cool it would be to have one on my machine on places where it would not cover up the necessary stitch and other essential graphics.
I did a search and found that Bernina has introduced having them but that was all I could find other than a post mentioning to use contact paper or laptop ones.
Personally I would not want to use contact paper as I would like to be able to remove it if I wanted to later without a sticky nightmare.. so the peel and stick skin or decals I think would be my preference.
I just think it would be really fun to personalize my machine and was wondering if anyone had done so. If so I would LOVE to see it!

I have friends who have used Wallies to decorate their Kitchen Aid mixers. Sounds fun to me, why not sewing machines? Wallies are advertised as re-positionable and do not leave a adhesive residue. There are a ton of designs on Amazon.

That link is broken. Try this one.

In any event, I would definitely NOT do this, for the first attempt, to a favorite machine. More viscerally: Aieeeeeeeeee.

Kitchen Aid Mixer Flame Decal set, Classic
Kitchen Aid Mixer Flame Decal set, Large Flame
Butterfly Decal Set (reviewer put them on her quilting machine)
There are many other varieties of decals available, such as this Flying Tiger Plane Decal set.

Per the product description, you apply these like a sticker on a clean surface. A layer of food grade shellac is OK to use to protect the surface.

If your sewing machine outer case has a sort of "pebbley" surface, I'm not sure how well they will stick. At the very least, you most likely won't be scrubbing food off of your sewing machine or putting it in the dishwasher (like a decal-decorated water bottle).

I think I need purple flames for my KA mixer, at the very least.

I have one for my Bernina Activa (as seen in my avitar) and it has the correct markings on it to know what the buttons mean. If they had one for my 165E I'd put my African Grey parrot Elvis on it!

Ohmigosh, I *love* those! The aqua flame set would match my Viking Emerald, but the Victorian roses are awfully pretty, too.

Probably won't do it, but I'll keep my eye out for new designs. :D

Oh, no. I found them in damask.

And etsy has more than 5,000 listings for laptop decals.

Ooh, lightning bolts on my Rocketeer!

Wait a minute - my wife has a CraftRobo - with a little Contact Paper or adhesive vinyl, I can pimp my ride up anyway I want. And Goo Gone will take care of any mess when (if) I ever remove it.

Yee-haw!!!
