Date: 10/18/11 2:28 PM Can anyone suggest a dress pattern that might be good for an adult Princess Leia costume? From a google search, it looks like there are vintage ones out there, but none that I could find for sale. Thanks! |

Date: 10/18/11 3:07 PM Leia's white gown from Ep6 is more of a loose-fitting robe, with a high collar almost like a turtleneck. Good Picture Here I'd think you'd want to preserve that flowy fit. You might try some of the Christmas pageant costumes from the Big 3, like Simplicity 4795 or M2339. You'd have to fudge the collar, but that shouldn't be too hard. ------ ~Gem in the prairie |

Date: 10/18/11 3:44 PM I made a Princess Leia costume for myself years ago, before there was a published pattern.
I used something like McCalls 2339 -- actually, it might have BEEN McCalls 2339.
I made the "angel" robe, and I attached a "swag" at the shoulders that hung down the back to about my waist. I could pull it up and over my head like a hood. Also made a simple sash for the waist. It was a white poly knit, which worked pretty well, except that it was more see-through than I would have liked. The color of whatever I wore underneath showed through. I wore it with white leggings and a white tank underneath, and all was well.
For The Hairdo, I took a pair of panty hose, cut the legs off, stuffed them with fiberfill, then tacked them into cinnamon bun shapes. I attached them to a plastic headband (the type that goes from ear-to-ear across the top of your head).
It didn't have a mock turtle neck, but people knew who I was right away.

Date: 10/18/11 10:09 PM hi, if you would like pictures to help, or make your own pattern this site is very helpful.

You said "adult" leia, do you mean for a adult or the bikini leia costume? If so look left on the same site under the Original Trilogy. They will tell you to go to this site:

Date: 10/19/11 1:59 PM There is a Simplicity 4443 for sale on ebay at the moment:
See here.
The price on this one is usually a bit steep as this is the pattern that was withdrawn after a copyright dispute. |

Date: 10/21/11 4:58 PM Funny.... I was actually looking for this same thing yesterday. Anyways, I came across this site: Slave Leia Costume Instructions which is an archived version of this site.
It looks a bit complicated to be able to pull off for this halloween, but it is increadibly detailed and good enough to work up for comicon or for next year.
Anyways, I hope this helps some and good luck in your search.
