So my MIL got me a subscription, and most of it is not really my thing, but I do LOVE the red dress (the free Tabitha pattern) from the current issue? Anyone else seen it? I might have to scan a bigger pic and post it! I LOVE IT! The bodice kinda crosses with the tabs and buttons, hard to describe. It's sooo purty!

Hi Kristin- I love it too!!! I got my magazine on Friday and keep going back to that dress. I read the directions a few times last night and it doesn't sound like it would be difficult to make. I think I am going to try it for my neighbor girls. I'm not sure if I am going to go with one fabric like the red pic, or try co-ordinating prints for the locking bodice. Are you going to make it?

Yes, I am going to make it! I want the red dupioni also! I have a 4 year old (almost 5 year old) and I think this will be her Christmas dress! I like the idea of the variations in fabric for another one later too!

I'm pretty sure Kathy Bernard, co editor of SB, has a youtube video on how to do this type of bodice treatment. Good luck. It is a beautiful dress. I am still waiting for my local JAs to get their copy so I can buy mine there.

Oh, for a little grandaughter to make this for! I enjoyed sewing for our three girls - and guess what - my grandchildren are all boys! No great-grandchildren to sew for yet - and I don't know any little girls that I could make this for! Sooo sad - I have always dreamed of little girls to sew for again!

That is so sweet, I would love to sew that up for my daughter! I guess I'll have to look for a copy of the magazine as well!

:) Yay! Glad to share! I'm actually super excited about it! It's something different for a change. It's hard to see the bodice in that pic, but it really is cool!!! I looked for some red fabric at Hancocks but struck out..gonna check out Joanns, and if not there, fabric.com has some, but I'd rather see the color in person!!!:)

The dress shown is made from silk dupioni. Martha Pullen carries it as do many other on line merchants. I would underline it with silk organza as well. Haven't gotten my mag yet so that info may be in the article.
