Date: 11/8/11 1:01 PM I just splurged and bought this book, and it is a beautiful book, nicely written and designed, with great photos. I love the way it is structured so that the difficulty of the patterns increases as new techniques are introduced.
Is anyone planning to make any of these patterns, or have you made any? What do you think of them? (Especially any who are plus size or more mature.) |

Date: 11/8/11 2:13 PM I'm actually planning on working my way through all of them as sort of a "home study" sewing class, to re-teach myself the fundamentals since I still consider myself a beginner. However, I do plan on eliminating the scallops on the skirt project as that's a little to sweet and uber-girly for my tastes. I'm a petite, so I usually make that sort of alteration in the torso, (cutting out about 1.5-2 inches) however when I made up a Sorbetto top, I found that one to be short even for me without any length alterations. Sadly though, I probably won't get to them until December, but I think if you check the Colete flickr pool, one lady has already made up the blouse.

Date: 11/9/11 2:34 PM How would the skirt and dresses look if they were longer and more flared, with pockets? (Guess I could just use different patterns, then!) I do like the bodices on the dresses as they are, and the scallops on the skirt are interesting -- not something you see every day, so it would have more of a designer look than a plain skirt. I just can't see myself wearing anything that short or that narrow. It's not that I couldn't, but I probably wouldn't.
The blouse is very cute, and I could definitely see myself wearing that. |

Date: 11/9/11 4:37 PM I just received the book yesterday and it is gorgeous! I have read through it quickly and studied a few of the patterns. I think I'll make up each of the projects, but like AngelynnK, may modify some of the more youthful elements. The designs seem more suited to a warmer climate and so I may wait a bit before starting on them. I think I'd rather be sewing cowl knit tops right now. ------ my blog: http://kf-biblioblog.blogspot.com/
