I have been searching the web for this fabric for days and I cant find anything like it. It is the fabric that is used for the godets at the bottom of view A in this OOP McCalls pattern - 4714:
McCalls 4714

Does anyone know what it is called, or where I can get it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Nora. I emailed McCalls and all they could tell me is that it was either from JoAnns or Hancock Fabrics. I checked both online, as well as many other sites, and I can't find anything close. I might have to go to the garment distict in LA, or just use a plain silk chiffon for the contrast.

What does the pattern say? It really looks like it's a sheer overlay over the whole dress, not a different fabric for the godets.

I'm pretty sure it's called point d'esprit. I've seen point d'esprit curtain panels on the net. That might be an option if you can't find the yardage, but once you know what it's called, you probably won't have a problem finding it. Some of it is made of silk (very very expensive) while others are made from nylon, polyester, etc. If you order from the internet, make sure they know you want a softly draping point d'esprit for wedding dress godets. Good luck.

There is a fabric sometimes called "dress tulle" that is a very soft drapey net. They are sometimes dotted or embroidered, so perhaps an option for your godets.

Good luck!
