Hi, everyone:

I was wondering if you've ever come across pattern catalogs (like the kind stores have on display for our reference) for sale some place. I would love to have a Burda one on file, for inspiration and for beefing up my pattern wish list! Wonder what happens to the outdated catalogs when the new season's edition comes out?

I've seen them marked a $1. or 2 the odd time at the fabric store.
Not often, you have to keep an eye open & be patient.

With the exception of Burda....you can buy a shiny, brand new one online from the websites. I like to buy the Fall book since it still has the spring styles....

I bought one from my Joann's store; it's great for inspiration. I think I paid $5.00 for it (Butterick)

Thanks, everyone, for your great ideas! I'll check with my fabric store to see if I can buy the outdated catalogs...if not, or for what I can't buy locally, I'll look at the company Web sites. I'm thrilled to know they are available...I think!

You can buy Vogue's pattern books online at their site.

My fabric store lets you put your name and number on them for a lottery and then gives them to you when they change.

The catalogs really aren't supposed to be sold. If you catch them on the counter at Hancock Fabrics, you can just request them and they will give them to you. Never see them sitting around at JoAnn Fabrics or Wal-mart.

The clerks at Walmart told me that they cannot sell the catalogs. Some other stores will sell them. I haven't found a store which will give them away for well over 15 years.

Sometimes clerks will ask why I want them, expressing a very puzzled look.
