I am so amused that Butterick now have their own series of Royal Wedding paraphernalia.
They might as well have called the following new bridal patterns the Kate and the Pippa:

Anyone out there brave enough to make something that will inevitably fail to look anything as perfect as the originals made and fitted by Sarah Burton herself?!

I'll be making the short version of Butterick 5710 for the holidays. And I promise, it will not be a failure. ;-)

Good attitude! I am looking forward to seeing it. Do you have fabric picked out?

I am wearing slacks (hopefully gray Clovers) and a maroon waterfall tunic to our holiday dinner. We usually are camping (!) but this year are staying north longer. Erica, maybe you can help me...what other color would you suggest for the pants? The tunic is deep raisin or maroon--->very formal looking.

I found this bodice too low, raised it but not sure how to raise cowl portion as it is part of the bodice itself. Did you have any problems?

It looks like Simplicity now has a Barbie doll-sized version of Kate's dress available (Simplicity 1955):
