I want to add an older pattern, but I don't want it to infringe on any other patterns of the same pattern number by the same company. I couldn't find an answer with a search so is there any standard?

My current idea is to add this older pattern with the pattern number with the date appended afterward. That will make it appear to be a different pattern than the latest pattern with the same number. I hate when the patterns get all mooshed together!

Is this an OK approach, or is there a preferred way?

Hi GwenH,

Add the letters OOP at the end of the pattern number in your review. That way, the software won't pick up the newest pattern number.

Happy sewing!

And, I'm wondering. When I add a pattern that is current, will the pattern picture stay with it forever after the pattern becomes OOP?

Thank you.

Thank you, it is good to know the picture will stay with the pattern. All the more reason to stay current with the pattern catalog.

Yes, the pattern picture will stay with it forever.

Also, if you're writing a review for a pattern number that a company has re-used, you'll be offered the choice of the newer or the older pattern picture (if we have it). If you choose the older picture, you should use OOP next to the pattern number at the head of the review edit page.

Happy sewing!

Holy Cow, I just got a '70s pattern from the thrift shore and wanted to use it for the jeans contest and I tried to look it up and it wasnt in the database and I wanted to add it to the database and I didnt know how. This topic is soooo timely. Thanks Lauri

Thanks!

I searched on OOP and it is used in a lot of different ways. Kind of an amzazing number of variations. I think I'll stick with '1234 OOP' though. I think it looks the cleanest.

Now, if a second person has that same pattern number from yet another year, I guess they will have to use '1234 OOP2' or some variation!

I wonder what will happen when this website has been around long enough to encounter a second pattern with a number that was entered into the database originally as a current pattern!

Hi GwenH,

When you write a review for an OOP pattern that has more than one past picture, you will see ALL the possible pattern pictures for that OOP number.

If PR is still here in the year 3000, that will be a LOT of pattern pictures!
