Date: 1/9/12 8:32 PM I saw this dress over at The Sew Weekly, and LOVED it! Mena used this vintage pattern:

Is there something currently in print that has a bodice like this? Thanks in advance for your insights, y'all! |

you can make an offer. ------ Galatians 5:22-23 The Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, and self-control. There is no law against such things as these |

Date: 1/10/12 3:26 AM Cute! Looks like a basic cut-on sleeve bodice with a full dirndl-y skirt. Something like Vogue 8765 might be a good place to start - just reshape the neckline and adjust the length of the sleeves if necessary. ------ I've moved! Date: 1/10/12 1:23 PM skae -- sadly, I don't think that size would work for me. I'm still rather new with even minor pattern adjustments, so I don't think taking on grading a vintage pattern would work out well for me.
LauraTS -- thanks for the suggestion :) |

Date: 1/10/12 5:12 PM You're welcome, Beth. I keep thinking there should be something closer in the current catalogs but I can't find one. (I get addicted to these pattern searches, can you tell?)
Colette patterns might be a thought, too, although I don't think any of their current dresses have a kimono sleeve and a boat neckline. Well, Crepe does, but it's also a wrap back - dunno if you want that.

Date: 1/24/12 2:06 PM Hi Beth, I like your choice in vintage pattern. If you haven't found a similar pattern yet, how about New Look 6723?
Picture & Reviews from SPR
The neckline is similar although the bodice is shaped with princess seams instead of darts. There was a helpful article in Threads a few years back on sewing/fitting princess seams. I'll see if I can find you a link to it.
Remember, if you want the fullness in the skirt (like on your pattern envelope picture) you'll need a crinoline underneath. Here's a tutorial from Gertie's New Blog for Better Sewing.
Layer Cake Crinoline
Good luck!
