I boought some lovely stretch ruffled fabric--small brown stripes on the inside with brown ruffles on the outside. Can any one suggest a pattern for this fabric as .i do not want to end up looking like a ruffled barrel

I have seen several ladies wear just plain knit t-shirt type tops out of this material, they were RTW,, but they looked cute..I don't know what size you are,, but these ladies were both big and small.. and the ruffles were the narrower width,,so to me they can look good on any size... I have seen the width from 1in.. up to 3 in,, the 3 in I seen in skirts..

It sounds like we're about the same shape/size. I used the ruffled fabric last summer for a plain tee --not close fitting. I made "flutter" sleeves-don't know what else to call them. It was very comfortable and, I think, flattering. The ruffles are so light weight and fluttery that they don't really add anything that you might not want added.

I made a floor length skirt out of black ruffled knit (approx 1"). I am plus size, and it was very flattering--the ruffles "skim" over unslightly bulges.
Look here for directions: http://www.sewnblog.com/not-a-pattern-review-the-ruffle-knit-skirt-a-la-jaeng/ and here for photos on a plus size figure: http://sewingfantaticdiary.blogspot.com/2011/07/clearing-off-my-sewing-list.html

I lined my skirt w/black tricot.

You could make a cute infinity scarf out of some of it.

I think using it on the diagonal looks good. See my review on a pattern using an off-white knit. http://sewing.patternreview.com/review/pattern/70636

I've made a skirt and a cap sleeve shirt with ruffle knit but I don't think it would work for all body types.

I've seen the ruffles go horizontally.

Your little diagonally-ruffled tee really is cute, NhiHuynh!
