Is anyone going to the Sewing and Stitchery Expo in Puyallup, WA? Called "the Biggest Sewing Party in America!"

If so, what classes are you signed up for? I'm in Saturday: Collars, armholes, crotches. Hee hee! Sounds funny but those are troublesome areas!

Is there any interest in meeting up? Maybe for lunch? I'll be there on Saturday most of the day. Karen

I'm afraid I won't be going to the Expo, but one of my evening suits has decided to attend without me! Seriously, I just learned my entry in IPCA's Midnight Magic Sewing Contest has been selected as a semifinalist. That means it will be on display during the Expo, and it will appear in the free fashion show on Sunday March 4th. But if you'd like to sneak a peak at my entry ahead of time, here's a preview of my silver lurex evening suit, rhinestone trimmed collar, bound buttonhole, and double welt pocket.

Everyone who attends the Expo will be able to cast their votes for their favorite entry. The entries with the most votes will receive gift certificates and move on to the next phase of the contest on the Burda Style website. And the first 200 people who attend the fashion show on Sunday will receive a free gift. There will also be 12 door prizes. So, check out the IPCA fashion show, and don't forget to vote!

You are only going for one day?
I do 3 days and stay in Puyallup.
I plan my classes around the free fashion shows and time for shopping. Its a lot of fun.

Nancy2001,
Congratulations on your selection as a Semi-Finalist in the Midnight Magic Sewing Contest! I too was just notified of my entry being selected as a Semi-Finalist and will be attending the Pallyup Expo and have the opportunity to model my entry in the fashion show.

Your sewing/tailoring techniques are absolutely wonderful! I enjoyed reading your amazing write up on another one of your other projects, especially since I too love Italian design (and fabrics).

For my entry, an Armani Collezioni velvet jacket with pleated collar from Nieman Marcus was my inspiration to enter the Midnight Magic Sewing Contest.

Butterick B5720 by Connie Crawford was a perfect match to create the special occasion black velveteen jacket with Italian wool satin asymmetrical softly pleated neckline frill. The jacket back and sleeves are embellished with machine embroidered elegant scroll motifs, accented with Swarovski Jet Black Lochrosen crystals and seed beads.

The jacket is paired with fully lined wool gabardine pants (Butterick by Connie Crawford B5690).

Looking forward to seeing yours and the other entries in Pallyup, and on Burda Style!

Yes, Everyone, Please vote!

Welcome to Pattern Review, CCC Couture, and congratulations on being selected as a semifinalist in the IPCA Midnight Magic contest! I just watched your You Tube video, and think your velveteen jacket and wool pants are lovely and chic, very Italian, very Armani!

Like you I used Connie Crawford's patterns, so you and I are two of Connie's three semi-finalists -- perhaps Number Three will pop up, too. The Butterick patterns I selected were the princess line jacket (B5336), crewneck tee shirt (B5215), and flat front pants (B053). I also used Connie's Art of Draping textbook to modify the patterns.

I'm sure you will have a terrific time at Puyallup. I've looked at the Expo brochure, and there will be many great classes, not to mention the fashion show. And what fun it will be to walk down the runway!

By the way, did you happen to enter the Palmer/Pletsch contest that just ended two days ago? This is the "Kate Middleton" jacket I made for that contest.

Karen, yes, I will be at Expo this year for three days - Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. I'd love to meet up with you and/or other Patternreviewers any of those days for lunch or dinner or fashion shows. Maybe we can get something going. any interest?

Congratulations Nancy and CCCouture for being semi-finalists in the Midnight Magic Sewing Contest ! I'm looking forward to seeing your entries - they look great. Nice work. It'd sure be nice to see pattern reviews here for those garments.

I believe PR member LauraInPuyallup also entered the contest - I haven't heard if she's a semi-finalist. I'll have to check in with the SewExpo Yahoo board and find out.

Nancy,
Your Kate Middleton Jacket is just impeccable! and a perfect entry to WIN! the Palmer Pletsch Contest Scholarship! Start making your plans to attend!

Love the "Color Story" and choice of tweed fabric. I am totally impressed with the hang of your sleeves. Just perfection.

Thank you for sharing.

My next contest entry will be the Make It Yourself With Wool, this summer and possibly the Indygo Junction Vintage Modern in March.

CC, you're much too kind! But I have to say the moment I saw your jacket this morning, I was certain you would win IPCA, not just the semifinals at Puyallup, but the grand prize on the Burda Style website, too.

I'm very excited to attend Sew Expo this year. I'm from Olympia (which is where my parents still live), so I will be staying there each night and attending at least 2 days of the event.

I would love to meetup with other PR people!
