Date: 2/5/12 8:47 AM Hmmm, I don't know either. On Facebook I asked the question when they were showing off their new cute "craft" patterns are they going to stop their clothing line and do crafts only. The reply I got from a "PollyAnna" Kwik Sew person is that their craft patterns are VERY popular and they will will release the new craft patterns and some clothing line patterns in their Spring release. I would LOVE to ask if any of the McVoguerrick designers or the highers ups have contaminated Kwik Sew's drafting department but do you think they REALLY will tell the truth, really?
I guess this turning into a rant and maybe I need to go to the rant thread but NEVER in a million years would I ever have imagined such a merger would ever happened. I have used Kwik Sew patterns for over 27 years(yes I was 17) and paid extra $ for them b/c they were better drafted and always had the best directions. I bought the Big 4 "expecting disappointment" on fit and for their crafts.
Whenever people would whine about the front covers of Kwik Sew I would ignore that aspect of Kwik Sew b/c you are looking at the design elements of the patterns and use your imagination on how to make it updated. I'm glad I never wrote to Kwik Sew to whine about such stupid superficial crap.
I guess I'm having flashbacks on when big companies merge b/c I've been through it with my company I last worked for. Yes change sucks and the biggest of the 2 will mostly get their way and contaminate the little guy but it will all work out and their stocks will skyrocket(or crash) and everything will be alright. Only us "old" whiners will sit around and know how bad it really sucks b/c we remember the good drafting and will be scanning Ebay and Etsy for the oldies with the "tacky" covers!

Date: 2/5/12 11:40 AM Quote: EleanorSews Do we think that is a good thing or a bad thing? I suspect that McCall's acquisition of Kwik Sew may just save KS. After Kirsten Martinsson's death the company appeared to be floundering, as if they could not find inspiration anymore, and perhaps the new parent company will help them with that--and provide a wider market, too. |

Date: 2/5/12 2:30 PM I HONESTLY hope I'm wrong on my assuming about Kwik Sew! I really hope it will be like the Burda/Simplicity deal. One can only hope. Atleast there is Jalie, Hotpatterns, and thank God I finally tried Sure Fit Designs for the best fit. Now I can get way better fit from the Big 4 with SFD. ------ Relax, don't get your elastic all twisted up in your waistband!
