I plan on attending the Sewing Expo in Cleveland next month and I was checking out the classes they are offering. This is my first expo so any suggestions on what classes are worth taking?

I attended the Sewing Expo in Minneapolis last November and took several classes from Cynthia Guffey including an all-day paper pattern alteration class. All of the classes were fabulous and I learned a lot. She strongly suggested that in future I work with gored skirts given my lower body shape. I took her advice and made one from a never-used-before pattern I had in stash. I did all the measuring of the pattern as per the class and made up the skirt in my fashion fabric -- the fit was perfect on the first go-around. It is hanging right now and will get hemmed tomorrow during our local sewing group get-together. I was impressed and putting all the things she talked about into practice was very enlightening. Next up is applying the same techniques into practice for a top.

I also took some technique classes from Peggy Sagers which were good as well (yoga pants and factory methods). Haven't been able to use the things learned in these yet.

Waiting to see what classes will be offered in Minneapolis in November 2012 before committing but would definitely do it again if the right classes were offered.

I usually learn the most when I take the hands-on classes. The 1hour lectures are more hit or miss.

I just noticed Pittsburgh is having one in August. I think I'll wait and go to that one since it is just down the road a ways.

I just reviewed the classes I signed up for at the Worcester Expo in April and it turns out I didn't pick anything offered by Cynthia Guffy Wishing I saw this post a few days ago...

This will be my first time attending, so I'm really excited. BTW, I ended up with general admission tickets for all three days, but I don't plan on going on Saturday, so if anyone is interested, I'm happy to pass this along.

I just attended the Sewing Expo in Lakeland, Florida
and LOVED the class by Pam Crosby (representing
The Sewing Workshop) on sewing on stretch lace,
loose woven knits and stretch fabrics. Excellent
presentation with power point and garments to match.
The best lecture presentation I have seen and well
worth the money ($19.00) and time. Carolbee
