Babylock ellisimo gold??

I was looking at Babylock ellismo gold Brother quattro 2 Husqvarna Viking Diamond Deluxe Janome 12000 Bernina 830 Pfaff creative sensation Visited two dealers today to start comparison shopping and trying out the machines. I wanted to know what you all thought of these prices I was quoted. For the Viking.. $9599 with majestic hoop thrown in and 10 % off for paying cash.. For the BabyLock $8467 with continuous hoop and design gallery studio thrown in and discount for paying cash. *Kinda Nice I like this machine better and it is cheaper.* I was impressed with both dealers and would be happy with either one . But those prices still seem extremely high. Or are they good deals? Next week I will hit the Brother and Bernina dealers next week and see what they have to say.. The babylock dealer did say she could beat any price out there so I think I must say the viking got totally out shined by the ellisimo gold in the demo. so i am not even sure it is in the running anymore.. Also the Janome did not impress my at all.

It might help point you in another direction, although it's lookin' like the Ellisimo was your favorite.

Seems high to me, but I didn't really consider the viking, so maybe I'm wrong. The babylock price seems very good. It is a great machine. Personally I have the 830 and it is awesome! BUT, I think the babylock is easier--so depends on what you want. What kind of price is norm for the 830?
threaddy   Advanced WY USA Member since 4/22/09 Posts: 2309	Login to reply to this post Like this post Date: 2/4/12 11:25 PM If you go for the standard Bernina 830 and not the fancy LE I think the price is close to the Viking...$10000 ish...IMHO a far better deal because it is one heck of a quality machine. One thing you will notice...the Babylock and Viking and Janome and Brother are very "plasticky". I just do not personally care for that "feel". When you sit down at the Bernina you will see what I mean. Also the quality of the feet...a pretty big difference. Bernina has tons of Webinars and Videos too. Bernina is pretty serious about doing it all well and doing it right as much as is possible. Look at the huge Bernina following here at PR(many are converts who came kicking and screaming at first to be sure). Certainly the Babylock is a nice machine. It is the only other one I would consider besides the Bernina. The dealer is very important too! How fun to be looking but it is SO-O-O stressful because it is expensive. (BUT WORTH IT ALL!) PS...I was quoted $6600 for an Ellismo a year ago but it was not the newer gold model. Although all these TOL embroidery machines are high strung thoroughbreds I think the Viking and Pfaff have had more user issues than the Bernina, Babylock or Brother. The Janome has just never been on my radar screen so I don't know. I ABSOLUTELY CANNOT BELIEVE MY HUSBAND OFFERED TO GO SHOPPING WITH ME!!! The cost of these machines is equivient to his buying a classic car. But the man got so excited he wanted me to put down deposits today. LOL. I initially was going that I would go with one of the #2 or #3 models because of the costs, but DH said i may as well get a machine that has all the bells and whistles on it. That way i won't regret not buying TOL to begin with. For those bernina fanatics (I use the term with love and admiration). the plastic feel of the machine doesn't seem to bother me. And they REALLY need to go watch that camera stuff in action... I sewed a PERFECT 1/4 in. seam through multiple layers of fabric without going off kilter > i did not even have to hold the fabric. Not to mention the positioning factor when doing embroidery.. I did not initially think it would be that big of deal of a feature for me but after seeing it in action, It sold me and my husband.

I don't think you can go wrong with that one plus if you like the dealer. make sure you at least test drive the Bernina though. You will have this machine for awhile. My Bernina 930 is still going strong after close to 30 years. With technology advancing so fast machines get outdated faster but if you keep the computer support you have now you can keep it going. I have an old Viking with floppies which is fun! REMEMBER embroidery is one expensive little hobby! It is in the photography expense category. There is software, thread...you have to have almost every color...I learned the hard way, designs, hoops, master hooper, good grief it is endless...PLUS room to use it which means a sewing room!! BTW the plastic "feel" is a quieter and softer experience. Since I am used to those metal tanks it is a bit too soft for me, but I can appreciate it. Watching sewing with Nancy and Fons &Porter with their Babylock is pleasant as the machine always does what it is told. Have fun...you have done the research so all the features should be familiar, now it is the test drive stage. It sounds as if you bought your killer machine, the Ellisimo. I really, really wanted that machine but the only option for a dealer in my entire state is so bad that I had to shop for a different brand...imagine that. I even called the nearest Babylock dealer in Washington State but they have gotten out of the business of selling embroidery machines, they sell only sewing machines and sergers now. Anyway, I ended up at the Bernina dealer and fell for the 830. Nayyyy, I will miss her, but Yeahhhhhh a new very large sewing room for me. As far as the differences between the brother quattro 2 and ellisimo gold. Designs included: disney v. nancy *don't matter to me I will be making my own mostly anyhow or you can download/purchase whatever you need. And the Brother comes with carrying case and trolly. Other than that, I don't see any difference betweeen the two. In fact brother manufactures the ellisimo gold. If anyone knows of other differences, I would love to hear them. I have been researching these two machines for several weeks now and can't find the difference. I will visit the brother tomorrow, I may like him just as much as the babylock dealer. I have definately decided on getting the ellisimo gold or quattro 2. Now it just boils down to price and dealer.
