Date: 2/19/12 7:54 PM I have been researching each system. It seems many people own the AccuQuilt System, but I have not read any comments on the Quiltcut. Has anyone used this fabric cutter and if so what are your thoughts? I would like to use it mostly for strip cutting. Any comments would be much appreciated. |

Date: 2/20/12 2:10 AM I have had the Quilt cut for 10 years, and love it. I have cut many strips, squares, triangles etc, with such ease. I use it almost daily. Quilting friends have come and used it too. It is simple to use, but large, and heavy-ish. I leave mine out on my cutting table, but have to move it when cutting other items. It does have a heavy duty cardboard case, with carrying handle, for you to store it in.
The cutting mat is not self healing, though, and after all this time is a bit 'weathered'. I could use a new one, but shipping charges to the UK for the mat only are now ridiculous ------

Date: 2/27/12 1:06 PM Thank you Seaside Sewer for responding. From the lack of response I guess not many people use ithe Quiltcut. I plan on purchasing it in the near future because I think it will meet my needs much better than the Accuquilt. With the Quiltcut2 it does not limit shape size, there are no expensive dies, and you can cut multiple layers. Unless you will be doing applique or making a large amount of quilts I feel this tool fits the bill for strip cutting and shape versitility at a much lower cost. |

Date: 3/18/12 10:01 AM I purchased the Altos Quiltcut 2 gently used. I found it on a Yahoo Group called Sewitforsale. I paid $75.00 for it and it was worth every penny. I don't us it everyday out when I have to make a bunch of cuts it great and it holds my fabric so it does move around and that saves a lot of time. |

Date: 3/18/12 11:46 AM The main reason I purchased my Accuquilt was for curved pieces, and unless I am missing something the Quiltcuit only does straight cuts? So for me doesn't meet my needs.
The Quiltcut looks like a drafting machine! Takes me back to my youth. My first job out of high school I sat at a drafting table in a sea of drafting tables in a room the size of a gymnasium. I don't think the cubicle had been invented yet.  ------
