Hi everyone!

I have a question on how to fix too narrow sleeves on a dress that is already sewn. The thing is that a few girls from my dance group ordered some (costumes) dresses from India. They were supposed to be made based on their measurements, but the sleeves are too narrow on all of the dresses. The problem is that the guy left no extra seam allowance

What is the best way to fix this so that it would still look presentable, since they are going to perform in those dresses?

I thought of opening a seam and adding a panel of the same fabric. Are there any other options?

Thank you

Yours is a good option. Could you remove the entire sleeve, use one as a pattern, and cut a contrasting sheer? Just make sure to add a bit more to the sides of the sleeve "pattern" before cutting

If the sleeve is too narrow all the way down, your best option is to open up the seam an add fabric all the way down. If it's just at the bicep a gusset could work to give more width and movement.

I hope you got a return on some of your money. That's really aggravating! Is there no time to have them sent back and fixed?
