I bought this fabric at Fabric Mart a few week ago. It's Marc Jacobs:

Does anyone have any idea if it was used in garments that were for sale in seasons past? I really like it but can't decide what to do with it. I'd like to make a dress but I feel like everything I choose just isn't suitable for some reason. If I could see what it was used for originally it would give me some direction and am hoping someone saw it.

What is the fabric content or type? Sometimes you can do a search using the designer's name and fabric, or other identifying features of the pattern/color.

I think I found it! googled "marc jacobs black white blouse" and this little beauty popped up. I never would have imagined this top from that fabric. I guess that's why the are called designers, and I am not!

I'll try to put image in the post...

Love that!

I bought Marc Jacobs green plaid flannel and I LOVED it. I was never successful in finding what he used it for. I'm guessing it was a men's shirt, not pajama pants :)

omg!! Thanks a million. Hah! I can't believe you found that quathy! Fortunately, I love that top!
I totally agree - I'd have never come up with that top in a million years. That's why I trawl this website stealing everyone else's ideas. I love doing pintucks, so that's perfect.
I seriously thought the chances were slim that anyone would find it. I figured the fabric was really old.
I'm just going to copy that top. I searched Google using the same terms but it didn't show me that top. That's how google works though - two people won't get the same results on different computers, so a HUGE thanks for finding this!!
