I'll remember that technique. But I have to ask: Everybody is always talking about hemming jeans. I've never had to hem jeans yet. Is that because I buy men's sizes, which come in whatever length you want? Are women's sizes not available in different lengths? Just wondering! ------ A sewing machine is just a welder for textiles.

If you are lucky you will find petite/short, average, and tall/long. Each brand is different. I am tall and have always needed tall/long but I can't always find that. If you are shorter, you may need to hem the jeans. BTW I have done something similar; it makes good sense to me.
