I love most of the clothes coming out of Emersonmade (now Emerson Frye), but I am especially crazy about her latest version of the Yes Dress:

I am interested in creating something similar, probably using Vogue 1137 as a starting point. Vogue patterns

The elastic at the waist has me pretty stumped though. After looking at several pictures of the dress, I know that it has a side zipper and the elastic only goes between the underbust darts. I don't know about the back. In other words, the elastic is just adding a design element and maybe some fit ease.

I can visualize how to install the elastic, but I'm not sure how to alter a pattern to make it work. The underbust darts look like they are in the right place and not scrunched together in the middle. It seems like I would need to add a center front seam to the bodice, and then slash and spread to add width at the waist line.

Description : "Pink and Tangerine silk charmeuse, scooped neckline, elastic waist band, hidden zipper, cut out pockets, full sweep skirt without slit, unlined."
This photo shows the waist band goes all around the waist, so instead of a fully fitted dress you have the waist elastic for comfort. Make your waist darts a bit smaller, and also add 2 or 3 cm to the central portion of the skirt. http://s3.amazonaws.com/EF.Products.2012.Spring/yes-dress-long-pink/EF-DRE-013-00.medium-5.jpg

That seems like an ingeniously simple solution!

I think stylearc has this exact pattern....the Peggy Dress. All you would have to do is lengthen it a bit, but i's almost an exact duplicate..elastic waist, tank top and pockets.
