[email protected] When it is time to buy/see an item from our classified section and the postage is indicated, I think it is worth the consideration to spend the addition $$ to be able to "track" a mailing. For patterns/magazines this would be an additional $1.25 The Burda magazine I mailed at the end of February has not arrived to my sewing friend and there is no way to locate it because I paid postage only ($2.70)

Thank you for your post and reminder to be a good steward of the classifieds! I always purchase a delivery confirmation, mostly because post offices are closing around me and I'm insecure as to how mail will be handled. For the few cents extra you pay, something like 50 cents if you go via PayPal, it's well worth the money.

I don't think tracking works well for international deliveries, unless you pay above and beyond for a signed courier delivery from a company like DHL. When I get ordinary tracked mail from overseas it is only tracked until it gets to New Zealand and then it is "with distributor" or whatever wording they use. The postie leaves it on the doorstep for me and we both hope it's stll there when I get home from work. Nobody could ever prove or disprove delivery in a situation like that!

BTW, unlike sewing patterns, magazines like Burda cannot legitimately be sent by media mail as they contain commercial advertisements. If you ship USPS 1st class, you can pay extra for delivery confirmation, and the next step up is priority mail. If you pay online, delivery confirmation is free.
