I'm looking for a new steam iron. I've seen the Osilos, and like everything else these days, they seem to not last very long, and don't get as hot as they should for all those watts.

So I saw this HB Smart Lift iron. Seems right for the money, but only has 1500 watts. I'm wondering if that'll be hot enough. But, the best thing is that it has the auto off overide.

Then there is This One from HB as well - gets pretty darn good reviews. This one's auto off lasts for 15 minutes upright. That's better than the average of 8 minutes.

I can't help, but will be watching this thread with interest. I am fed up with my iron. I have a Reliable V50 and it's okay for pressing yardage but some things about it make me crazy. Last weekend working on a little applique project made me want to throw it out the window.

I have used the Oliso at Quilt Festival and was very underwhelmed.

And for the moderators I'm confused why this thread was moved out of Patterns and Notions since irons are reviewed as a Notion...

All my irons have to be 1200 watts or less, and I'm able to work with them quite well. But sometimes I wish I had a 1500 watt one! I like Hamilton Beach irons.

Have you considered a gravity fed iron?

Well, I just don't want to do the whole hanging it from the ceiling or getting an IV bottle hook up! I just want an iron, lol.

I too am curious why this was moved, since all the other iron threads are in Patterns and Notions. I know an iron may not be a notion as such, but all the other threads are there, and there is a new one there about irons too.
