1 member likes this. Date: 3/27/12 4:46 PM I haven't posted in an awfully long time, so I hope everyone is doing well.....Anyway, I just bought the Singer Quantum Stylist 9960. I need another machine like I need a hole in the head, but Amazon had them on sale since yesterday for only $319.99....I couldn't resist. They just sold out about an hour ago. Last night when I last checked, they had 15 in stock. This morning, only 4 so I bought one.
I have the Kenmore 19233 and was never really satisfied with that machine. Always had something going on with the tension and never could get it right. So I wanted another computerized machine to replace the Kenmore, which I'll be selling. I had been eyeing the Quantum Stylist for awhile and thought I'd go for it.
Does anyone here have any experience with it? There's only a couple of reviews on the sewing machine reviews, so I'd like to know if anyone out there has sewn with this machine.
Thanks!

Date: 3/27/12 8:47 PM That's the only thing - I don't think it comes with the value added package like it did when it was sold on HSN. But I don't mind that part so much. I just wanted something similar to my Kenmore 19233 that would be able to sew a nice straight stitch without any tension issues. I definitely like all the extra decorative stitches and the variety of fonts in the alphabet....which, speaking of, I find it rather odd they have a whole Russian alphabet built into the machine. -- Edited on 3/27/12 8:48 PM -- ------ Babylock Ellisimo Gold

Date: 3/27/12 10:20 PM Wait to sell your Kenmore because some of the feet may also fit the Singer - give it a whirl and see, and let us know. That particular Singer has a good rep, and is a nice looking machine as well.
WOW...O.K..it is now $329.99 on AMAZON and free shipping. Shipped and sold by AMAZON. I am pretty sure that at HSN that "extra free package" really cost! Their prices are always higher than you can get anything elsewhere. But they do have good service.
Enjoy your new machine! :) ------ "Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible."

Date: 3/28/12 0:39 AM Congrats on your new machine! I'm partial to Singers and bought a new Stylist 7258 because they also had good reviews. You got a very good deal. Enjoy! |

Date: 3/28/12 12:43 PM Thanks, Muffet! I was thinking the same thing when I looked at the picture for the accessory feet. When I bought the 19233, I bought a bunch of extra feet like the walking foot, several hemmers, 1/4 inch seam foot, bias binder, etc. I was going to hold onto those if they fit the Singer and only sell the Kenmore with exactly what it came with.
Glad so many of you have responded positively because I have always wondered about this machine and almost bought it on HSN awhile back. But I really wanted to wait and see the reviews over a long term. I know it sells at Joann's currently for $499 or $549 the last time I saw it and that was a couple of weeks ago. So I think I got a great deal.
I sew mainly on a Singer Futura 900 and a Kenmore 1814, but like to keep a computerized machine around for the decorative designs you can't get with an older mechanical. The 9960 has a bunch of cool little designs that I like and will come in handy this year.....my family is adding 4 new babies (not mine....1 is enough!) to the bunch in 2012, so I have my work cut out for me. I think I'm the only one who likes to sew and I've been making valances, crib skirts, bunting sacks....etc. -- Edited on 3/28/12 12:43 PM -- ------ Babylock Ellisimo Gold

Date: 3/30/12 12:56 PM The machine arrived last night and I was more than pleasantly surprised to see the additional feet included in the "value added accessory" package. The same package that was being included on HSN was included with this sewing machine. I have to say that I don't regret this purchase one bit. For $319 to receive all that I got is pretty outstanding.....going to test it out this weekend! ------ Babylock Ellisimo Gold
